To Sugarloaf Ridge State Park from the Golden Gate Bridge

Total Est. Time: 1 hour, 40 minutes -- Total Est. Distance: 61.25 miles

  • Merge onto US-101 N (Over the Golden Gate Bridge, through Marin County heading for Sonoma County.
  • In the city of Novato, merge East onto CA-37 E via EXIT 460A toward NAPA/VALLEJO.
  • Take CA-121 North toward SONOMA/NAPA, past Infineon Speedway.
  • After several miles. at the next stop sign, stay STRAIGHT to go onto CA-116 towards Petaluma.
  • Exit CA-116 after a few miles, turning right onto ARNOLD DRIVE. Continue on Arnold Drive for approximately12 miles.
  • Turn RIGHT onto MADRONE ROAD. Go 0.9 miles
  • Turn LEFT onto SONOMA HWY/CA-12. Follow for 6.7 miles
  • Turn RIGHT onto ADOBE CANYON ROAD. Follow for 2.0 miles all the way to the park. Enter the park and drive straight back, following signs for "Horse Trailer Parking" to the historic white barn.


To Sugarloaf Ridge State Park from Santa Rosa

Total Est. Time: 50 minutes -- Total Est. Distance: 12.10 miles

  • Start out going NORTHEAST on 4TH STREET toward D ST. Go 2.1 miles
  • 4TH ST becomes SONOMA HWY/CA-12 W. Follow for 7.8 miles
  • Approaching the town of Kenwood, look for the large brown State Park turnoff sign to Sugarloaf Ridge State Park. Also watch for the Landmark Winery on your left and a small restaurant on the left, "The Vineyards Inn" at 8445 Sonoma Hwy, Kenwood, CA. If you pass a gas station on your right, you have gone too far.
  • Just BEFORE the restaurant, Turn LEFT onto ADOBE CANYON ROAD. Follow for 2.0 miles all the way to the park. Enter the park and drive straight back, following signs for "Horse Trailer Parking" to the historic white barn.

To Sugarloaf Ridge State Park from Sacramento

Total Est. Time: 2 hours -- Total Est. Distance: 81.03 miles

  • Take the CAPITAL CITY FWY/US-50 W, it becomes I-80 W. Follow for 42.0 miles
  • Merge onto JAMESON CANYON RD/CA-12 toward NAPA/SONOMA. Follow for 6.4 miles
  • Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto CA-12 W/CA-29 N. Follow for 3.9 miles
  • Turn LEFT onto CA-12/CA-121/CARNEROS HWY/SONOMA HWY/SONOMA NAPA HWY. Continue to follow CA-12/CA-121/CARNEROS HWY. For 5.1 miles
  • Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto NAPA ROAD. Follow for 4.3 miles
  • NAPA RD becomes LEVERONI ROAD. Follow for 1.7 miles
  • Turn RIGHT onto ARNOLD DRIVE. Follow for 6.9 miles, continue through the town of Glen Ellen to the end of Arnold Drive.
  • Turn LEFT onto SONOMA HWY/CA-12. Follow for 10.5 miles
  • Proceed through the town of Kenwood. Look for the Chateau St. Jean Winery and after that, the "Vineyards Inn" restaurant on the right side. Turn RIGHT onto ADOBE CANYON ROAD. Follow for 2.0 miles uphill all the way to the park. Enter the park and drive straight back, following signs for "Horse Trailer Parking" to the historic white barn.
